Faced with the resurgence of violence against women and young girls experienced by Tunisia at the start of general confinement due to COVID-19 and the temporary closure of regular accommodation centers, the response of UNFPA Tunisia has been quick.

UNFPA Tunisia country office has supported the Ministry of Women, Family, Children and Seniors, in the creation of a temporary and transitional confinement center in Hammam Lif for GBV survivors, where they would spend 14 days before being referred and accommodated in the accommodation centers already in place. The center began welcoming victims of violence in the beginning of April thanks to technical and financialsupport from UNFPA Tunisia. It is part of UNFPA's commitment to its partners to address the COVID-19 pandemic and to promote gender equality.
